As a husband and wife photography and videography team based in Worcester, we’ve had the privilege of capturing countless beautiful moments – but Sally and Dave’s Stanbrook Abbey wedding last September truly touched our hearts.
Surrounded by golden September light and the soft rustle of early autumn leaves, Stanbrook Abbey was the perfect setting for this elegant and joy-filled celebration, with its breathtaking architecture, sweeping grounds, and timeless charm.
Sally and Dave, both in their 60s, radiated happiness and warmth from the moment we arrived. There was a beautiful sense of calm and intention to the day – nothing rushed, nothing overdone. Just love – what a wedding is ultimately about.
What made the day even more special was the presence of Sally’s four adult children, all beaming with pride and joy. Having lost Sally’s first husband, and their father, over 10 years ago, the bond between them all was clear, and it created such a strong family atmosphere throughout the day. From the emotional walk down the aisle to the heartfelt speeches (honestly some of the best we’ve heard), their love for each other – and for this new chapter – was felt in every frame we captured.
One of our favourite parts of the day was sneaking off with Sally and Dave for a few quiet moments in the abbey’s stunning cloisters. The light poured in just right, and their natural affection for each other made every shot a dream. It was less about posing and more about documenting two people utterly content and in love.
As the sun dipped behind the Worcestershire hills, the day gave way to a relaxed, laughter-filled evening. Candlelight, music, and heartfelt toasts made it the kind of wedding you don’t forget – not just for its beauty, but for its warmth.
And their guests were in for a treat in the evening, as not only did they have a traditional first dance, they also put their years of dance lessons to practice by performing the dance from Dirty Dancing! A highlight from the year for sure, and proof that you can dance like this at any age.
Their love story truly is a reminder that it’s never too late to find your person.
