Destination wedding in Jamaica
After a post in a wedding Facebook group asking for a photographer to photograph her wedding in Jamaica, Carla got in touch with us to see if we’d both be able to capture their dream wedding in the Caribbean.
After having postponed their first date due to Covid, their original photographer and videographer that they’d booked were no longer able to make the new date. After having exchanged a few messages, it was clear we matched Carla’s vision for the day, and when she confirmed the next morning you can rest assured there was some happy dancing around our house!
Over the course of planning we were in touch with Carla and Dan, having zoom calls to go through the day, logistics and get to know one another (we’d be spending a week at the same hotel, so we made sure we’d be friends by the time July came around), before meeting them late at the hotel once we’d arrived.
Riu Ocho Rios, Jamaican wedding venue
Nestled along the pristine shores of Jamaica’s northern coast, their hotel, Riu Ocho Rios, has breathtaking ocean views, lush gardens, and gorgeous architecture, giving an idyllic backdrop for a dream destination wedding. The hotel itself is a 5*, and you really know you’re in good hands! The food was incredible, amenities immaculate, and plenty of swimming pools and bars for delicious cocktails. It’s sits on the shores of Mammee beach, gorgeous white sand and bright, clear blue seas. Perfect for a dip at any time of day.
As a destination wedding photographer and videographer, we were thrilled to be capturing their super intimate wedding (they had about 25 guests in total). Carla and Dan opted to get married late in the day to avoid some of the heat; their wedding was on the beach under a gorgeous bandstand, led by the most wonderful and wholesome Jamaican minister.
Carla was led down the aisle by her two brothers, who had also just endured the most emotional first look we’ve ever borne witness to. It was so, so beautiful; we’re so lucky that we get to witness such raw and heartfelt moments.
Dan and Carla were so excited during the ceremony; we could all feel the love! We then walked along the beach for couple photos, making the most of golden hour while their guests were treated to a steel drum band to give them an authentic Jamaican experience.
The evening was spent listening to beautiful speeches, eating glorious food, and watching them dance the night away – all under a marquee on the beach.
This wedding in Jamaica was one we’ll treasure forever, and we’re so grateful we were able to have the opportunity. As a result, we’re now off to Kos in 2024 through their recommendation!
Being a destination wedding photographer and videographer couple means we only need to book one hotel room, which significantly cuts down the cost. Becky had already worked a wedding in Poland, and we’re off to Italy and Greece in 2024. We’ve got them nailed to a tea!
And here’s gorgeous Carla’s lovely review from their epic Jamaican wedding:
“I can’t even begin to put into words just how incredible Winter Bennett Weddings were at capturing our special day!
They captured every moment so perfectly and made everyone feel so comfortable and at ease.
We have so many beautiful photos from our special day and the way Dean and Becky have captured such a beautiful way allows me to relive so many moments!
Not only are they incredible at what they do, Becky & Dean are honestly the nicest people and have the kindest hearts. They really felt like extended family members just taking pictures.
We will never be able to thank them enough for their beautiful work! I would highly recommend them to anyone who wants their special day captured perfectly!”
