Winkworth Farm, tucked away down a long, private driveway amidst the picturesque Cotswold countryside, is an idyllic setting for weddings that epitomises the very essence of rustic charm and natural beauty.
Located just outside Malmesbury, this historic farm is a hidden gem that provides a gorgeous backdrop for couples looking for a relaxed, unique and beautiful wedding. The farm itself, with its beautifully renovated 17th-century Cotswold stone barn, sits within beautiful organic meadows, providing stunning scenery, perfect as a backdrop for photos.
From the sprawling meadows and quirky farm buildings to the warm hospitality that pervades the atmosphere, Winkworth Farm gives you the freedom of creating your own wedding personal to you, set in a well-thought-out venue.
We were there to photograph Lauren and Matt in April. While the sun didn’t quite come out, it was a mild, warm day allowing us to really embrace the countryside setting.
Lauren got ready at the venue in the Courtyard Barn, a separate, totally private two-storey building with plenty of space and natural light. Their gorgeous daughter, Emily, totally stole the limelight that morning!
Matt and his best man arrived in Matt’s vintage BMW: something he was incredibly proud of, and very excited to have his own fancy wheels for the day, especially his beloved car.
The guests arrived by coach; Lauren was itching with anticipation, watching everyone walk in. It’s such a warm feeling, watching your loved ones arrive to celebrate you!
The ceremony was just perfect, taking place in the Long Barn (which seats up to 150 guests!); this was followed by confetti outside and family photographs.
After a break to enjoy drinks and mingling with guests (giving us the perfect opportunity to capture those all important candid photos of guests laughing and enjoying themselves), it was time for couple photos. We made the most of the extensive grounds and utilised the fields, driveway and farm buildings to vary the backdrops.
Lauren and Matt are so fun together, and really embraced the opportunity of having photos of the two of them together! I love the black and white photo of them walking across the field, Matt holding Lauren’s shoes with her dress draped over his shoulders. You can see in their faces how happy and in love they are!
After food and speeches, the night ended with some fantastic dancing – I’ll never forget everyone lining up for Our House by Madness! And even though we didn’t get a sunset, I’m so happy with the photos, and know they loved them too!
If you’re dreaming of a wedding that combines rustic elegance, open fields and a warm welcome, this enchanting venue is a great choice. Easily accessible, delicious food and plenty of options for ceremony and photographs, Winkworth Farm should be at the top of your list to celebrate your wedding!
