July is always a special month for us as it’s Becky’s birthday month, but this year, it was made even more unforgettable by the incredible wedding of Roze and Billy. As a photographer and videographer couple, we’re often immersed in the beauty of love stories, but Roze and Billy’s celebration at St John the Baptist in Bishops Castle and Camlad Barns was really special.
It was a busy day, with prep at Roze’s parents’ house in Shrewsbury. One of our favourite prep sessions; a chilled yet excitable atmosphere. The moment Roze shared a first look with her dad was particularly touching. The emotion was palpable, a beautiful exchange of love and support that set the tone for the heartfelt day ahead.
We don’t often get the privilege of capturing religious ceremonies these days, but when we do, there’s a unique sense of reverence and beauty that fills the air. We actually got married in a church ourselves – as much to celebrate the beauty of the church itself as anything else.
St John the Baptist, built towards the end of the 13th century, was the perfect setting for Roze and Billy’s vows. Something new for us (but not new in its concept) was the inclusion of modern Christian music, and it’s hard to find the words for how moving this was. The church was full, and with a duo of musicians (guitar and piano), the congregation truly raised the roof in their singing. It was epic, a blend of tradition and modernity that resonated deeply with everyone present. Roze and Billy have only recently found faith, and it was an integral part of the day.
Following the beautiful ceremony, and after the longest confetti walk, we made our way to Camlad Barns for the reception. Camlad Barns is a stunning, recently renovated venue that offers a perfect blend of rustic charm and modern amenities. Nestled in the Shropshire countryside, it provides a peaceful and picturesque setting for weddings and other celebrations. The barns themselves have been lovingly restored, retaining their original character while offering a spacious and versatile space for guests. Built on a hill, the surrounding fields offer beautiful backdrops for photographs, adding to the venue’s appeal. This gorgeous venue was the perfect setting for the joyous energy of the guests, creating an atmosphere of pure celebration.
Billy works in the film industry, and his passion for storytelling was evident in his heartfelt speech. We also loved that Roze did a speech too; it’s not often that brides give a speech, but we’re so here for it!
The weather was absolutely lovely, a perfect summer day in July. While we didn’t quite get the golden hour magic we often chase, the natural light throughout the day was stunning, casting a warm and inviting glow on every moment.
As wedding photographers and videographers, our goal is to capture the essence of each couple’s unique story. Roze and Billy’s wedding was a beautiful blend of faith, love, and celebration, and we feel incredibly privileged to have been a part of it. From the sacred moments in the church to the lively reception at Camlad Barns, every detail was a testament to their love and commitment.
